These two teams met earlier in the season with Haddon Township coming away with the victory against Haddon Heights. The second time around always helps a team to get use to the pitcher and team they are going up against. Both teams were successful getting the ball on the bat and scoring runs in this Colonial Conference match up at Haddon Township High School. Heights would hold an early lead, but the bats would come alive for Township as they stormed past the Lady Garnets by a 14-9 margin.

Heights started out getting five of their first six batters on base. It looked as if they would explode for a ton of runs during the first inning. But a nice play by Township’s shortstop Felina Sacchetti nailed McDevitt at the plate slowed down Heights rally. Heights would still come away leading 3-1 after the first inning. That lead would only hold up until the third inning when Township took advantage of some timely mistakes to regain the lead 4-3. Kelly McConaghy had a triple during that inning. They were not done scoring as they would score eight runs over the next two innings. Sacchetti would score twice during those innings and a total of four runs for the game.

Trailing by an 8-3 margin heading into the top of the fifth inning, Heights got their first 2 runners on base with no outs. But the next two batters were unsuccessful moving the runners around the bases. That’s when Caitlin Whalen cleared all the bases and scored herself with a three run homer got Heights a bit closer. But Township would respond during their bottom half of the inning to pull away. Aileen Fallon would pick up the win for Haddon Township while Jess Williams suffered the loss for Haddon Heights.
