It was on their wish list of items they wanted to accomplish but a game had to be played in order to receive their rewards. The Lady Hawks from Haddon Township knew that Schalick would not make it easy for them to advance to the South Jersey Group 2 finals. The Hawks would have to play their game and that would be to continue to hit the ball hard and the runs will come. Eight of their runs would come at the right time as Haddon Township posted a 9-6 victory over the Lady Cougars from Schalick. The Hawks will travel to the group finals against Overbrook.

Haddon Township road to the group finals started out against eleventh seeded Cinnaminson. Starting pitcher Colleen O’Riordan early run support and the Hawks continued to hit the ball hard during the middle innings. Against the third seeded Green Wave from Audubon, getting on the scoreboard first again helped Haddon Township move on to the semifinals against Schalick. Rachel Manning picked up the win in that game. The Lady Hawks would continue to get on the scoreboard first in today’s game, but the Cougars have also proved that they could come from behind in a game.

The Hawks were able to put together a couple of hits during the first inning and led 1-0. Schalick would respond as they did in their previous game against the second seeded Delran Bears. A three run double gave the Cougars a 3-1 lead during the third inning. The Hawks would respond with three runs during the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Haddon Township would pound out five more runs during their next at bat to what seemed a comfortable lead at 9-3. Schalick’s bats would come to life during the seventh inning scoring three times, but that would not be enough to come away with the win.
