High School Softball:
Highland Picks Up Right Where They Left Off

It has been a season of surprises for the softball team from Highland. Well maybe it's not that much of a shock to the players on the team. After failing to qualify for last year's playoffs and losing key players due to graduation, not many believed that this year the Lady Tartans would be among the leaders in a very competitive Tri-County Conference Royal Division. Starting pitchers Randi Cifelli and today's winner Megan Bianchini has been holding it down on the mound recording victory after victory. Highland's 7-0 win over Deptford was their ninth win in a row.

Every game counts when it comes to any division race, but there's something different about the Royal Division. Kingsway, Highland, Clearview, Gloucester Catholic, Williamstown and Deptford have separated themselves from the rest of the pack and will provide some interesting match-ups during the postseason. But it has to raise an eyebrow when Highland has been in the thick of the race for the crown.

Highland finally broke the scoreless tie by scoring three runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Brittany Luczkiewics delivered the key hit to score the first 2 runs of the game. From that point on, it was all Bianchini and the defense keeping the Spartans off the scoreboard. Next up for the Tartans is another home game division game against Kingsway.
