Holy Cross scored twice on the power play and killed off three short-handed situations in the third period and held off Paul VI 3-2 in Tier 2 action played at Hollydell on Friday night. Ryan Potosky led Holy Cross with a goal and two assists and Dom Golato added a goal and an assist. Brett Balco gave Paul VI the 1-0 midway through the first period converting a pass from behind the net from Mike DiGennaro. Potosky tied the game just over a minute later on pure hustle by Golato, as he fought for the puck behind the net. Golato was shoved to the ice and from his knees fed the puck to Potosky who buried it long side and it was 1-1.

Potosky and Golato would hook up later in the period on the power play as Potosky broke in and when the initial save was made, Golato pounced on the rebound to give Holy Cross a 2-1 lead after one. Early in the second period it was Paul VI capitalizing on the man advantage as DiGennaro converted a pass from Steve Wampler to tie the game at 2-2. Paul VI had a golden opportunity to take the lead with a two-man advantage for fifty seconds, but Potosky, Pat Tamez and Mike Welch did an excellent job controlling the puck for Holy Cross to keep the game tied. Late in the period, on the power play, Tamez one-timed a pass from Potosky and Holy Cross led 3-2 after two periods.

Early in the third period Paul VI had another two-man advantage, this time for a minute but goalie Matt Delano kept them off the scoreboard and Holy Cross was able to hang on for the 3-2 win.
