It was a chance for Holy Cross to create some space between them and the second place team chasing them in the Burlington County Liberty Division. The baseball team from Rancocas Valley was that team traveling to Delran looking to make up some ground late in the season. Their efforts would come up short, as the Lancers were able to stay one step ahead of Rancocas Valley. Holy Cross was able to push across three more runs than the ever-so-dangerous Red Devils. After seven innings, the Lancers walked away with a 5-2 all-important victory.

Last season for both of these teams made it to the post season, but it ended abruptly as they suffered first round losses. Rancocas Valley (9-2) was the second seeded team from the Group 4 bracket but loss to Jackson. Holy Cross, seeded sixth last year, also had an early exit from the playoffs. This year, the Lancers were looking to extend their eight game winning streak against Rancocas. They were looking to continue their success they were having so far put up double digit runs on the scoreboard.

The Red Devils got the game’s first run during their top half of the first inning against starting pitcher Colin Kassekert. Holy Cross would respond also in the bottom of the inning with two runs to take the early lead. Rancocas would score their second run of the game in the fifth inning, but the Lancers yet again responded with two runs to maintain a hold of first place in their division. Bob Radatz would suffer the tough loss for the Red Devils.
