Jeff Bagnoli and Jerry Reed each scored two goals as Lenape defeated Clearview 5-2 in the first game of the semi-finals in the SJHSIHL varsity playoffs. Jim Davis gave the Indians a 1-0 lead midway through the first period with Jon Bianco assisting, with both teams having two players in the penalty box. Clearview's strength most of the season has been good defense and hard-hitting, but on this night they seemed tentative and did not use the body as much as they have all year.

Reed scored his first goal on the power play with just over four minutes left in the period with Rick Salvador assisting. The stanza ended with Lenape ahead 2-0. Early in the second period Bagnoli scored his first on a feed from Reed and Dan Whitlock and the Indians were in control 3-0. When Clearview would generate some offense Sean Sheehan was there to frustrate them, and the lead would grow to 4-0 as Reed scored on the power play with Salvador and Jon Schnepf assisting.

Most of the period Clearview seemed to be shorthanded, most were earned penalties, some not so earned. At the six-minute mark, Bagnoli would get his second of the game also on the power play and the lead was 5-0. Clearview would get goals from Sullivan and Mike Gooch to make the final 5-2.
