Every team is optimistic on opening day, as every team starts out undefeated. But the Lady Quakers of Moorestown showed they were all business, and that they were ready for their annual pursuit of the state title. Courtney Legath led the way with 7 goals, as Moorestown muscled past Eastern 16-5.

At the start of the game, both teams seemed a little uncertain, and play was uneven. Then the Lady Quakers started to get in the groove, as Colleen Dalon opened up the 2000 season with goal at 21:06. Less than a minute later, Erin Fitzgerald hit two quick strikes eleven seconds apart to make it 3-0. Lisa Rendl then added her score at 19:27. Less than a minute later, Courtney Legath would score her first two within 50 seconds of each other, and Moorestown had a strong 6-0 lead. Eastern's Coach Heilig called a timeout to try to settle things down, and that seemed to help, as Eastern's defense tightened up. Finally, the Lady Vikings go on the board when MB Miller scored at 12:35 in the half to make it 6-1. But the Lady Quakers were not to be stopped, as goals by Dalon, Fitzgerald, and Legath put them up 9-1 at half time.

Stephanie Weinberg opened up the second half with a quick toss 37 seconds in for Eastern. But the ball would spend too much time being tossed around the Eastern end of the field. Coach Knobloch showed she had her team prepared to start this season off right, as they continued to press hard, rolling to the 16-5 win.

Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Quakers were Rowan Smith, Dalon (3), Sara Shelley, and Legath (7). For Eastern, there was one from Laura Leving, plus two more from Miller (3).
