Moorestown could not overcome a slow start and lost in the first round of the Flyers cup 6-3 against Plymouth Whitemarsh. Playing a competitive game for the first time in three weeks, Moorestown fell behind 3-0 after the first period and never recovered. Goals by Davy Johnson, Justin Morrison and Josh Aiello staked Whitemarsh to the three goal lead and the lead grew to 4-0 as Corey Hockman scored the only goal of the second period.
Moorestown seemed to gather its legs early in the third period as Chris Martin scored a power play goal to cut the lead to 4-1. Morrison’s second goal of the game restored the four goal lead at 5-1, but Moorestown got goals from Ben Doganiero and Bryan Rudolph to cut the lead to 5-3 but Steve LaCrosse closed out the scoring for Whitemarsh and they advance to play Kennett.
