High School Ice Hockey:
Moorestown hands Township second straight Loss

Moorestown used solid goaltending and good defense as they defeated Washington Township 3-1. Craig Rushmore stopped all but one shot, giving up a goal with three seconds left and Mason Riley, the Township goalie coming off a game where he surrendered 10 goals, played solidly in keeping his team in the game. After a scoreless first period, Moorestown got the only goal of the second period as Shane Brennan scored on the power play with Ben Smith and Jarrod Clark assisting.

After Issa Aji picked up a loose puck and beat Riley with a shot from the slot to make it 2-0 Moorestown seemed in control, but Township had some opportunities on the power play but could not finish. Then in the games final minute with a man-advantage and the goalie pulled for an extra attacker, Mike Eni scored an empty-net goal for Moorestown and a 3-0 lead. Matt Marguglio ruined the shutout scoring with three seconds left as Township suffered its second consecutive loss at 3-1. Notes: Scoring just two goals in their last two games Washington Township will need contributions from all three lines, as this year is different from years past as there is not that one or two dominant players. Could be a long season for the Minutemen.
