Saturday, February 18, 2006 By Susan Hall For three full quarters, both the Lady Villagers from Our Lady of Mercy Academy and Oakcrest battled each other on the basketball court and neither team was able to open up a large lead. Back and forth these two teams went taking turns at regaining the lead. Oakcrest's Whitney Walker was a problem for OLMA's defense the entire game, but down the stretch the Villagers' offense would be successful at aggressively attacking the basket. Expanding on their one point lead, OLMA outscored the Falcons by eight to pick up the 55-46 win at the Ventnor City Shootout girls' basketball tournament. |

Monday, November 7, 2005 By Joyce Sagerty Repeating as champions is never an easy task to accomplish, but for the Lady Quakers girl's soccer team they have been enjoying their success so far. Winners of the Burlington County League Freedom Division and the number one seed in this year's South Jersey Group III tournament, Samantha Davis is the team's leading scorer but others have the ability to put the ball into the net. On this day, Brooke Cantwell led the Quakers in scoring against the fourth seeded Lady Falcons from Oakcrest to advance to the finals against Clearview. Moorestown used four different players to score goals as they went on to pick up the 5-1 victory. |

Friday, November 4, 2005 By Jerome Michaels It was very impressive the way this game started out. The fifth seeded Falcons from Oakcrest were a team not to take lightly as they have demonstrated on several occasions during the regular season that they could score goals. Highland took that knowledge seriously and began to apply pressure on the defense and were quickly rewarded. Joe Cullen was unstoppable for Highland scoring four goals in this quarterfinal South Jersey Group III boy’s soccer game. The Tartans would defeat Oakcrest 6-1 and advance to the next round against the top seeded Red Raiders from Ocean City. |

Saturday, February 12, 2005 By Jerome Michaels It's always special to win a game for your team and it's even nicer to celebrate a milestone during that victory. Cherry Hill East's Brian Young not only helped the Cougars pick up the twelve point victory, he also was honored with scoring his 1,000th point of his career during the game. With some of the East faithful showing up at the game, Young was honored briefly during their game against Oakcrest. After that, Cherry Hill East established a lead that was never jeopardized and picked up the 64-52 win. |
