Ocean City Ends Highland's Chances

This past season has been an impressive accomplishment for the boy's soccer team from Highland. At the beginning of the season, most would not have considered the Tartans as one of the top teams in the area. Mike Cullen, Joe Cullen and Tony LaVigna have led Highland deep into this year's South Jersey Group III semi-finals game with high hopes of making it to the title game. One team standing in the way were the number one seeded Red Raiders from Ocean City. Most have considered them the number one team in South Jersey and with Rafael Duarte, Kyle Evans and Pat Tolomeo leading the way, there's a reason why they are so good. The Red Raiders completely controlled this game from beginning to end and advanced to the finals with a 6-1 victory over Highland.

It was a beginning that ever team would like to have, scoring not just the first goal of the game but many goals before your opponent has a chance to realize it. Ocean City's 22-0-1 record was never in jeopardy especially when you have players mentioned previously in this article. And when you get goals from your other support cast, it would be already to mention the work priceless. Kyle Evans highlighted this game by scoring three goals for the Red Raiders. Ryan Scully, Pat Tolomeo and Rafael Duarte would round out the scoring in the first half and that's all Ocean City needed. Highland would avoid the shutout when Tony LaVigna scored for the Tartans.
