Maybe there was a bit of pressure on the number one seeded team in this year's South Jersey Group III boy's soccer title game. Not knowing what to expect from eleventh seeded Lacey Township, the Ocean City boy's soccer team were playing back on their heels waiting for something to happen. Lacey Township were the surprise team this year defeating the higher seeded teams which allowed them at a chance to pick up the group title and also defeat what many has considered the best team in South Jersey. For one entire half, the two teams were unable to score a goal, but the second half was a different story as the Red Raiders ripped off five unanswered goals to claim the title.

It must have been some half time speech by the coaching staff after not scoring a single goal during the first half of this game. Ocean City has been impressive all season long and their high level of confidence just wasn’t there. But when the whistle was blown at the start of the second half, top scorer Rafael Duarte’s goal seem to have opened up the flood gates from the remainder of the game. Kyle Evans, Kevin McCarthy, Jon Mitchell and Michael Mousaw all scored after Duarte’s goal and Ocean City would pick up their third straight South Jersey Group III championship.
