Can you image being in a situation when you can always count on someone being there for you? Every turn you make, that person is right beside you helping in whatever task you are trying to accomplish. Well the Lady Chiefs played as a solid team, helping each other capture a very well played game on the road. The Lady Rams from Overbrook unfortunately ran into a Cherokee Chiefs team who were executing well on their plays to capture the 71-39 Olympic Conference win.

Entering this game, Overbrook was well aware of the Lady Chiefs' high powered offense. Overbrook would use a variety of defenses to slow down their opponents charge, but good teams always find a way to score. In this game, Cherokee worked as a team and as individuals using their talents to put this game away early.

The Lady Rams has several players who can put some serious points on the scoreboard. One of those players would be senior guard Christen Barney. Her skills as a leader and point guard could be seen on the court dribbling through traffic with easy looking for the open shot. Barney would account for all the points scored in the first quarter for Overbrook, but the second quarter explosion by Cherokee (9-1) showed why they are one of the top girl's basketball teams in South Jersey.

After starting off slow in the first quarter, the Chiefs began using a motion offense creating open shots for easy baskets. Christy Schilling, Ariel Davis and Kaitlyn Cuneo worked the interior offense with perfection creating easy lay ups for two points with the patent pick and roll play. Cuneo and Lauren Shurr led the second quarter with 7-points each contributing to the 23 points put on the scoreboard. Cherokee would have a comfortable 34-16 lead at the break.

The second half of this game, Cherokee continued with executing their plays putting easy points in the basket. Overbrook would attempt to defend their opponent's offense inside, but that's when Lauren Shurr would connect from outside. She would connect on three 3-pointers in this game. Shurr finished the game with a game high 17-points, Ariel Davis added 15 points and Kaityln Cuneo finished with 13 points. Christen Barney had a team high 13 points for the Rams.
