High School Softball:
Overbrook's Defense Help Secure Procida's No Hitter

So far this season, Overbrook has been doing everything they need to do in order to stay ahead of the rest of the teams from the Tri-County Conference Royal Division. Their success on the softball field has rewarded the Lady Rams with winning eight straight games which included a win on Monday over the determined Pioneers from Clearview. Competing in their four straight divisional game, the Rams’ Kerri Procida would watch the defense come up with some spectacular plays both in the infield and outfield not only keeping Highland off the scoreboard, but also preserving a no hitter. Overbrook would extend their winning streak with their 5-0 victory at home.

The first time these two teams met early in the season, Overbrook walked away with the 1-0 decision. The Rams would hold that same one run lead after three full innings when things got a bit interesting. Highland began to catch up with Procida’s pitches forcing the Overbrook to make the plays on the field. Each hit off the bat found a Rams fielder coming up with the plays to record the out. After a walk, fielder’s choice and Megan Haran’s second triple of the day expanded Overbrook’s lead to 4-0, Jackie Coates’ double plated the last run of the game and another win for the successful Lady Rams.
