Perfect Record Still Intact For West Deptford

When the Eagles from West Deptford congratulated each other after their game on Saturday afternoon, they had just completed their 11th straight victory without a loss. It would seem as if it was a hard fought season with last minutes field goals or touchdown runs. Well, no. West Deptford has dominated teams behind the running of Tom Walls, throwing by Anthony Scirrotto and a relentless defense. Paulsboro, who dominated this Thanksgiving rivalry for a long time, were shout down and shut out by that very same defense. West Deptford’s 20-0 victory has given a lot for Overbrook to think about for their upcoming South Jersey Group II match-up on Friday night.

During this game, both teams not only had to compete against each other but also the strong wind. Keeping the ball on the ground, West Deptford just handed the ball mostly to Walls who score the game’s first touchdown with 2:13 showing on the first quarter clock. That lead expanded to 14-0 when Scirrotto’s keeper from 48 yards out would have impressed Walls with his ability to break tackle. Midway through the final quarter, Scirrotto 1-yard keeper finalized the scoring and picked up the road victory.
