Paul VI was looking to end a five game winless streak. The Lady Eagles suffered a one run loss to Kingsway in a non-league game. Holy Cross also recently felt the jaws of defeat losing a 1-0 game against Deptford. In another non-league competition on their schedule, one of these teams finally was on the winning side of a close game. Kristie Gola would pitch a shutout for the Lancers and defeat Paul VI 2-0. Alaina Giles would come through with the big hit in the sixth inning.

Both starting pitchers were having their way on the mound keeping their opponent off the score for five complete innings. Stefanie Ricciardi relied on her defense through those innings for Paul VI supporting her pitching. It wasn’t until the sixth inning when finally someone crossed the plate. Giles’ single scored the only two runs of the game giving Holy Cross enough runs to go on and defeat the Lady Eagles. Both pitchers only gave up four hits apiece.
