Overbrook Hauls Down Pennsauken In Effort To Make Playoffs

With playoff hopes on their minds, Overbrook had to win their game against the Pennsauken Indians and look for help to make the playoffs. Last week, the Rams came away with a big win against Lenape to keep their slim chance of making it to the post game dance alive. The Rams defense shutdown Pennsauken and won the game 29-0, but did not make the playoffs. The other question asked was this Harvey Miller's last time for a playoff run.

With next years' addition of Lindenwold High and the renaming of Edgewood to Winslow Township, what would be the fate of Overbrook High School. Would Coach Miller return for another year at Overbrook with all the changes going on all around them? Those questions would be answered in the future, but today the Rams traveled to Pennsauken High School to take on the Indians.

The Rams didn't waste anytime getting on the scoreboard early in the first quarter. On their first possession in the game, Overbrook moved the ball down field deep into the Indian redzone. Pennsauken were able to stop the Rams offense on the first 3 plays until starting quarterback Brandon Banks completed a fourth down touchdown pass to Nick Hannans. After the two point conversion run by Mike Weindel, Overbrook would score all the points they needed. Both teams established were able to move the ball deep into their opponents territory, but the defensives would come up big to stall the drive. It wasn't until 22 seconds remaining in the half that the Rams got on the scoreboard again. Coach Miller's team used the running of Jesse Mason and Bubba Sterling to put themselves into scoring position. Mason capped the drive with a 33-yard run and two point conversion to end the half 16-0.

The second half started the same way as the first for Overbrook as they marched down field. Jason Carr completed a halfback option pass to Justin Thompson. James Polk completed the scoring with a 2-yard run to complete the 29-0 win on the road.
