St. Joe’s jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first period and went on to defeat Eastern II, 8-4 in playoff action at Hollydell on Friday night. With the victory, St. Joe’s moves on and will play Moorestown on Monday night at Mt. Laurel and with the loss the season ended for Eastern II. Colin Davis, the speedy freshman led St. Joe’s with two goals, both both on breakaways and both in the first period as the Vikings defense was victimized by numerous odd-man rushes. After Davis scored in the games first two minutes, Frank Formica made it 2-0 with a shot that went over the glove of the goaltender.

Greg Walters made it 3-0 scoring on another break with less than two minutes remaining. Davis closed out the scoring in the final thirteen seconds as he jumped on a puck at center ice and darted into the zone and after drawing the goalie out, he slid the puck along the ice and into the far corner for a 4-0 lead. Dan Drazen put Eastern on the board early in the second period, but goals by Charles Lotierzo, Kristopher Anderson and Alessio Russomanno put the game out of reach at 7-1. Rich Smith, Dan Weaver and Andrew Kaiser scored for the Vikings in the third, but it was not enough. Justin Valentino added the last goal for St. Joe’s.
