Shawnee's JVB team in the Metro High School League capped its unbelievable season by defeating Archbishop Ryan 4-3 to win the Metro League Championship at the Flyers SkateZone. Shawnee entered the playoffs as the favorite after going undefeated throughout the regular season. In some instances, teams that dominate during the regular season sometimes falter in the playoffs. However this was not the case, as Shawnee was on a mission and, after disposing of Father Judge by an 8-1 score in the semi-finals they faced a tough Ryan team.

The game had all the excitement you would expect for a championship battle, as both teams played their hearts out. The game was tied at 3-3 with about six minutes remaining before Shawnee finally took the lead for good and held on for the 4-3 victory. Congratulations to the players and coaches of Shawnee for a memorable year.
