Shawnee defeated Cherokee 5-1 in the second JV championship game played at Voorhees on March 3rd. Shawnee, the regular season champ, was in control throughout the game and received goals from four different players. Leading the way with two goals was Lenny Burkhardt.

Shawnee tallied three goals late in the first period as Tom Basehore, Burkhardt and Kirk Hooper put their team up 3-0. Dan Shaw scored Cherokee's lone goal in the closing seconds of the first period to make it 3-1. The second period was all Shawnee as they kept peppering Cherokee goalie Steve McKenna and finally scored on the power play to put Shawnee up 4-1. The shots after two periods were 24-7 in favor of Shawnee and with a three goal lead Shawnee was just one period away from its first championship at any level since 1996, the year they won the varsity title. Burkhardt added his second goal late in the period to cap Shawnee's great year with a 5-1 win. Congratulations to Coach Bergan, the players and staff as well as Bill Ruskowski.
