Steve Marshall had two goals and Steve Schmidt had a goal and two assists to steer the Sterling Knights by Clearview 5-3 in SJHSIHL JVA playoff action at Hollydell on Sunday night. The game started off with both teams taking more penalties than slap shots. With the teams skating three-a-side, Marshall, on a pass from Schmidt, scored on a breakaway to give the Knights the 1-0 lead. After winning the ensuing face-off, Marshall crossed the blue line and blasted a shot that found the back of the net, and just like that it was 2-0.

Clearview cut the lead in half as Matt Usher scored on a breakaway to make it 2-1. Then with just under two minutes remaining, Jake Adams on a feed from Mike Kundrotas and Nick DeJesus tied the game at 2-2. However, the Knights would respond thirty seconds later as Kevin Hull scored, and the score was 3-2 heading into the second period. Midway through the period, Bill Hunter scored with assists to Schmidt and Joe Sauro and Sterling led 4-2 going into the last period.

Schmidt scored early in the period to give the Knights a 5-2 advantage, but Clearview would have a golden opportunity to climb back in as they had a two man advantage for a full two minutes. Unfortunately, they could only generate two shots on goal, as Sterling never let them set-up in the zone. With two minutes left in the game, DeJesus scored a short-handed goal for Clearview but it was too late as the game ended 5-3.
