High School Soccer:
Late Goal By Maiatico Enough For Haddonfield To Get By Sterling

During the first half of this game, you could feel the intensity from both teams that this was a very important boy’s soccer game. It was a match up against the top two teams from the Colonial Conference Liberty Division. The Sterling Silver Knights were playing host to the undefeated Bulldogs from Haddonfield. This game would come down to a late goal by Greg Maiatico just under two minutes remaining in the game. Both teams played well, but it was Haddonfield who would extend their record to 6-0.

These two teams are bound to meet each other again during the season with one team exploding for goals in a decisive victory. The level of play from both teams was very high and at any point of this game, either team could have scored a lot more goals. Sterling, after starting the season with four straight victories, would come out on the short end of this game. After turning the ball over deep in their territory, Maiatico would not miss on his shot after Kyle Falana’s assist gave him a clear path to kick the ball.
