Florence Keeps Their Winning Streak in Tact

With the postseason not too far away, there are two teams who aren’t worried about qualifying for the playoffs. In a non-league softball game, the Silver Knights from Sterling were hosting the Lady Flashes from Florence. Both of these teams are amongst the leaders of their division and for them, every win moves them closer to capturing the division or conference title. Starting pitcher Melissa Mehrer had everything going her way for Florence as she not only hit a home run but also completed the game and struck out twelve batters. Florence would shutout Sterling by an 11-0 score and extended their winning streak to seven games.

Both of these teams were on a current winning streak and one of those streaks was coming to an end. Sterling was looking to extend their five game winning streak but on this day, they ran into a pitcher who had all the right stuff. Mehrer only gave up one hit in this game. Both Mehrer and Chelsey Kehr highlighted this game with home runs and with their win, Florence remains on top of the Burlington County League Freedom Division.
