In a NJSIAA Consolation Game on Friday night the Mustangs (1-7) faced the winless Cherry Hill West Lions (0-8) who only have 7 seniors. Triton looked to keep the Lions out of win column this season as they were looking for their second win of the year.

Triton came into this one off a heartbreaking 13-8 loss to Woodrow Wilson. The Lions entered coming off a blowout loss 40-7 against Highland. Both teams entered this one looking to redeem themselves and they both felt this would be their best chance to do so.

It was all Triton in the first quarter as they scored early and often with touchdowns coming from Brian Yackle, and Frank Williams. Brian McLaughlin also got in on the scoring and at the end of one quarter the Mustangs had a 21-0 lead.

In the second quarter, it was more of the same as the Mustangs took it to the house a couple more times. The running of Williams, McLaughlin, Robert Pierce, and even quarterback Brian Yackle gave Triton a huge lead at the half.

The lone highlight of the night for Cherry Hill West was a brilliant catch for a touchdown by wide receiver Troy Hood.

Substitutes entered the game in the fourth quarter for the Mustangs as Jared Wright capped off the scoring with a 3 yard TD run that was proceeded by 55 yard dash by Wright. After all was said and done the Mustangs won it in a romp by the final off 55-14.

In freshman football news...

On Friday afternoon the Triton Mustangs took on the Gloucester Catholic Rams at home looking to pick up there second straight win. It was all Mustangs early on as the moved the ball at will against the Gloucester Catholic defense. Zac Finley opened up the scoring with his first of 3 touchdowns on the day. The Mustangs put together a 97 yard drive on the Ram Defense which was also capped off by Finley. The defense kept the opposition off the board for the second straight week stringing together 8 consecutive quarters of shutout football. As a result, the Mustangs took this one rather easily by the final of 21-0.
