The Triton freshmen football team opened up the 2000 campaign at home on Friday. What were high hopes heading into the game were quickly faded as Eastern marched into the end zone methodically on their first possesion taking an early 8-0 lead. Things only got worse for the home team as they were forced to punt four times on their first six possesions. The other two resulted in fumbles. At the half Triton was stunned as they trailed 34-0 as Eastern crossed the goal line every time they had the ball in the first half.

Although the Triton was down and out they were able to outscore Eastern in the second half 13-0. Quarterback Pete Silvestro and running back Zack Finley each rushed for a touchdown for Triton. Despite the fight Triton gave in the second half it proved to be too little too late. However this team has the ability to do some things and you can expect them to bounce back next week.
