Nick Martorano had a goal and two assists to lead Washington Township over Eastern 3-1 in SJHSIHL JVA playoff action last night at Hollydell. The real story however was the outstanding play of Eastern goalie Kyle Bradshaw, as he stopped 41 shots many point blank and kept the game scoreless until the third period. Township's best scoring chance in the opening period was by Mike Smetaniuk as he skated through the slot and ripped a shot ticketed for the corner. But Bradshaw made a great glove save and despite being out-shot 15-3, the period ended scoreless.

Township kept the pressure on in the second period, but was still unable to solve Bradshaw. Their best opportunities came at the beginning and end of the period. First, Jason Pelle found himself all alone in front in the first two minutes but didn't get all of a rolling puck and Bradshaw closed the five hole. Then in the last ninety seconds, Drew Petersen skated in and again Bradshaw was equal to the task. Eastern's best chances also came late as Greg Danzuso had a chance on a 2-1 but shot wide. Then with forty seconds remaining, Adam Roy hit the post and we headed into the third period at 0-0.

Finally, with the teams skating four-on-four, Petersen was all alone in front and he beat Bradshaw to give Township the 1-0 lead midway through the period. Assists went to Martorano and Smetaniuk. Less than a minute later Eastern tied the game at 1-1, as Tom Fadako sent in Randy Einfalt short-handed. The game winner came in the final three minutes after Martorano's shot came off the boards to a wide open John Spallino and he beat Bradshaw for the 2-1 lead. Pelle also got the assist. Martorano added an empty net goal in the final seconds for the 3-1 final.
