Buddy Anderson scored two goals as Washington Township defeated Clearview 5-2 in the third and deciding game of the SJHSIHL championship. It was Township's first championship since 1996 which gave Coach Steve Brown the title in his first year as head coach. After spotting Clearview a 2-0 lead on goals by Mike Gooch and Ryan Arnold, Anderson scored Township's first two goals on power plays to tie the score at 2-2. The first goal he went end-to-end after goalie Adam Sezchech fed him the puck and beat Wiesenbach on the short side.

Moments later after Sezchech stoned Gooch on a breakaway, Eric Marano won a face off and Anderson's laser shot found the back of the net and the period ended tied at 2-2. But the momentum was clearly with Township. Just ninety seconds into the second period, Adam Zaccaria gave Township the lead for good on a nice pass from Joe Pelle. With the partisan Township crowd now feeling more confident, they kept the noise at a level that was incredible. With just under three minutes left in the period, they were rewarded as Pelle made it 4-2 converting a pass from Joe Gori.

Adam Zaccaria added a short-handed goal late in the third period and Township gave Coach Brown the championship in his first try. After the game Coach Brown said, " Sezchech really rebounded well after the first game and was fantastic, as was Anderson and Zaccaria." The coaches also credited former head coach Chris Harrington with being an influence and that he'd probably seek him out and have a beer with him. Congratulations to the players and coaches as well as Clearview's Coach Sullivan who had his team well prepared and will be heard from again.
