Mark Capone and Eric Marano each scored twice and added an assist and Drew Peterson chipped in with a goal and two assists to lead Washington Township over Shawnee 7-1 in a SJHSIHL varsity game played at Hollydell on Friday night. Using their speed to create opportunities, Township capitalized on the power play as Eric Marano broke down the left wing and put the puck on net. Capone jumped on the rebound and lifted the puck over the goalie for a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later with the face off in the Shawnee zone, Tom Davidson drew the puck back to Dom Fiandra and his one-timer made it 2-0.

In the closing seconds of the period Township had a two-man advantage and Capone set up Marano in front after skating through the defense. After one period the lead was 3-0. Bill Hansbury gave Shawnee some life early in the second period picking up a loose puck and beating goalie Dan Straga to cut the lead to 3-1. Moments later though Tom Davies scored for Township and after two periods the lead were 4-1. Goals by Petersen, Capone and Marano all in the last five minutes of the game closed out the scoring and the 7-1 final for Township.
