Fred Brewer scored three goals and Derek Anderson continued his solid play in nest as Washington Township defeated Cherry Hill East 5-1 in Tier 1 action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Andrew Rovinsky scored the lone goal for East. Township took a 1-0 lead as Pete Laman broke in with Billy Choy and as Choy drew the defenseman over, he put the puck right on the tape and Laman just re-directed it into the net. Not many games are won in the first period, but Township killed off five short-handed situations, twice being down two men and were able to score on their only power play.

After East failed to capitalize on their advantage. Brewer scored his first of the game as his blast from the point through a screen found the back of the net and Township led 2-0. After Marco Jordan picked up a loose puck in the slot and wristed a shot into the net for a 3-0 lead, East had another opportunity with a two-man advantage but Anderson made two big saves. Laman seemed to get to every loose puck. Brewer made it 4-0 early in the second period and East could never muster any offense as they spent a majority of the period killing penalties, seven to be exact. Brewer completed his hat trick in the third period, which seem to last forever as the teams combined for thirteen penalties in the final period. Next up for Township is a meeting with Cherokee.
