Evan Amato scored twice, including the game winner with less than twenty seconds left in the game snapping a 3-3 tie as Washington Township defeated Eastern 4-3 in Tier 2 action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Despite being out-shot 46-13, Township was able to escape with a win, thanks in large part to the play of Rich Van Sciver who continued his strong play in nets for Township. After each team scored a goal in the opening period, Al Orth for Township and Ryan Berger for Eastern, Township was fortunate to be tied as they were out-shot 13-2.

Eastern continued firing in the second period, but Van Sciver stopped 17 shots, allowing just one goal. Township took the lead as Austin Amato converted a pass from Jeff Kaiser. After Hunter Obrero tied the game for Eastern at 2-2, Ryan Powell gave Township a 3-2 lead heading into the third period. Eastern quickly tied the game in the opening seconds as Darren Plotkin beat Van Sciver. Midway through the period Evan Amato scored his first goal again assisted by Kaiser. Torin Lawson tied the game at 4-4 with fewer than five minutes left and it looked as if we were going to end that way before Amato’s heroics.
