Gary Guinto scored a short-handed goal late in the third period as West Deptford edged Cherry Hill West 3-2 in Tier 2 action at Hollydell on Friday night. Guinto also scored the first goal three minutes into the game as Deptford totally dominated the opening period and led 1-0 heading into the second period. Both teams played solid defense and stayed out of the penalty box, as there were only four penalties in the entire game.

Joe Creek tied the game for West scoring late in the second period on a nice feed from Ricky Hoch. Deptford recaptured the lead early in the third period as Doug Dehart motored into the zone and scored on the power play to make it 2-1. Then with just over six minutes remaining in the game, Creek scored his second of the game from a tough angle and once again we were tied at 2-2. That set the stage for Guinto's heroics, with West once again on the power play, Dehart sped in and fed Guinto who deposited the game winner. West had one final chance on the power play in the last minute but Deptford held on for the 3-2 victory.
