West Deptford defeated Williamstown 4-3 in Tier 1 action played at Hollydell on Friday evening. In the season opener for both teams Williamstown scored the only goal of the first period with Dominic Carusone’s slap shot from the point finding the net with plenty of traffic in front of West Deptford goalie Evan Betz. West Deptford controlled the second period scoring four goals, two on the power play, both times with two-man advantages. Leading 4-1 going into the third period, Williamstown pulled within 4-2 as Mike Lamplugh’s shot from the point beat a screened Betz and the Braves had life. With the goalie pulled and West Deptford down a man, Williamstown cut the lead to 4-3 with less than a minute left in the game, but Betz closed the door to preserve the 4-3 win.
