Warriors Lose Battle to Rams

On a night that the Wildwood Warriors were coming with a record of 8-1 thinking to improve to 9-1 to take a 2 game lead in the Tri-County conference, vs. the Salem Rams was not what the town of Wildwood was hoping to see. To start the game for the Warriors were Shane Toland (#23), Bobby Mulholland (#11), Jeremiah Brown (#20), Adrian Santiago (#55), and the top Tri-County League scorer and rebounder, Jonathan Greene (#32). The Warriors held the team to a 5 point lead for the whole first quarter but Salem slowly gained more points thru the 2nd quarter. Adrian Santiago for the Wildwood Warriors started the first half with 9 points, helping the Warriors to advance with the record they have right now. Jonathan Greene also shipped in a 12 along with the combined points of Bobby, and Shane.

The Warriors have been struggling from the foul line since the beginning of the season. The Wildwood Warriors who are 8-2 and 6-1 in the conference, had lost to Wildwood Catholic in the Boardwalk Classic Tournament by two due to the lack of free throw mades. Jonathan Greene, who had a chance to tie the game with free throws at the Boardwalk Classic Tournament had the same chance against the Rams on Friday. Jonathan Greene made the first free throw and coach Rocco Sansone took a 30 second timeout. Jonathan takes the second free throw but misses, Adrian Santiago gets the rebound with eight tenths of a second left on the clock. Adrian goes up with the ball, releases as the clock expires but the ball does not even come close to the rim. Wildwood loses with a score of 62-61.

The Warriors are now tied for first place with 4 other teams, which are Gloucester, Salem, Glassboro, and Woodstown. Wildwood has already defeated Glassboro and are hoping to beat Gloucester for the #1 spot in the league next week on Tuesday, January 21st.
