St. John Neumann recorded their first victory of the season by defeating Williamstown 4-2 in Tier 2 action on Friday night at Hollydell. After a scoreless first period, both goalies came up with some outstanding saves during the period. Neumann's Andrew Renzi and Williamstown's Eric LaMonica played solid defense in goal.

Randy Akin scored on a breakaway to give Williamstown a 1-0 lead midway through the second period. Late in the period, Williamstown had a two-man advantage and Chris Brogan rebounded a shot by Akin to make it 2-0.

The turning point came later on the same power play. Chris Lanciano broke in short-handed for Neumann and scored with one second left in the period to cut the lead in half at 2-1. Carmen Juliano tied the score at 2-2 as his shot from the point found its way into the net. With momentum now on their side, Neumann scored two goals ten seconds apart. The last one was by Mike Ricciardi which Neumann held on for the 4-2 victory.
