High School Ice Hockey: Annual Hockey Award Winners Announced Wednesday, February 23, 2005 By Mike Costantino SJSports Staff Writer South Jersey Sports Online recently announced its annual high school ice hockey awards presented to the SJHSIHL. The seven awards selected this year included several players of the year, best defenseman, leadership and coach of the year awards. As is always the case, it was difficult selecting one individual for each category, as we had a number of players with good seasons. Here are this year’s recipients: Player of the year: -- Fred Brewer - Washington Township Best Defenseman: Jim Fritz - Clearview Coach of the Year: Ed Schaklet - Shawnee Breakout Player of the Year: TJ Brennan - Moorestown Leadership Award: Tom Ruiz - Williamstown JVA Player of the Year: David Moore - Washington Township JVB Player of the Year: Joe Pezatto - Shawnee Goalie of the Year: Colin Higgins - Moorestown Congratulations to all the recipients, awards will be presented at the first game of the finals.
