Five South Jersey Teams Selected for the Flyers Cup

With the annual Flyers Cup upon us, the SJHSIHL had five teams invited to play in this year's tournament. Along with league champion Washington Township, Cherokee, Shawnee, Williamstown and Moorestown all received invites. Cherokee received the highest seed of all the teams; they are seeded fourth and will play the winner of Bishop McDevitt vs. Freedom game, at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Wednesday March 15th. Moorestown will also play the same night at the Skate Zone against Perkiomen Valley.

Township will play Downingtown East at the Iceline on Wednesday March 15th at 7:00 and along with Cherokee are being counted on for a strong showing. Shawnee will play Plymouth Whitemarsh also on Wednesday in Hatfield and Williamstown will play Unionville on Monday March 13th at Iceline. In years past the South Jersey teams have played cross-over games against the Pennsylvania teams, but in recent years have gotten away from that schedule. Moving forward it’s probably a good idea to re-visit that tradition. I think it would go a long way in gaining the respect from our friends on the other side of the river.
