High School Ice Hockey, a Sport You are Missing!!

Back in the fall of 1998 a few people were starting a web site dedicated to high school and youth athletics, mainly in South Jersey. Initially I gravitated right to football, but after a few games I realized everyone covers high school football. Our editor mentioned that high school ice hockey had little or no coverage, and I immediately said that's for me. Now over the years there has been plenty of excitement and usually a decent amount of fans.
Now you always get your big crowds for the neighborhood rivalries, Clearview-Township, Cherry Hill East - Cherry Hill West, etc. But in the last few years attendance has noticeably dropped off, and I really can't figure this out. Is it because of the times? Possibly starting a game at 5:30 or 5:45 is too early for parents. But games also start at 7:00 and 7:15 and while there might be more fans in attendance at those times, I still don't see the support for the teams that should be there. I know it's not the cost, two bucks for students and three bucks for adults is a fair price.
One of the reasons I am voicing my opinion is that over the last two weeks at Voorhees Skate Zone there has been two great hockey games and both times the place wasn't full to capacity like in years past. Look I realize every body has a hectic schedule especially when you are balancing work, family obligations and just life in general, but these kids and these teams need everyone’s support. Now is the perfect time to bring everyone out to a high school hockey game, especially with all of our professional teams in the tank! For the next game on the schedule you can just click on the link on our hockey page. Hope to see you at the next game!
