The Moorestown Middle School "A" Ice Hockey Team won the fall/winter league Championship Monday night (3/27/06) at the Spectrum in spectacular form. The team was firing on all eight cylinders as they beat Cherry Hill East with a score of 5 to 0. They beat Cinnaminson 9-4 the night before to advance to the title game. Head Coach, Howard Griffis along with his Assistant Coaches, Ron Schwinn III and Jim Rushmore did an outstanding job coaching this team to a championship season always keeping the team focused on the ice.

The team played one of their best games Monday night, with Tyler Griffis in net earning a shut out. Tyler stopped everything that was thrown at him in net including a 5on 3 power play in the third period, acting like a steel curtain in front of the net. The team's offensive scoring was lead by Eric DeStefano, scoring 3 goals earning him the hat trick for the game. The team also added two more goals from their Captains Alex Hashmi and Jarrod Clark, along with 3 assists from Sam Sauerwien to sew up the win.

The defense was rock solid in front of their goalie. Defenseman Kyle Bodine was a force to be reckoned with on this night, clearing opposing players and keeping them from shooting on his net, ensuring goalie Tyler Griffis the shut out. Cory Pederson was called up to help make the defense rock solid and did a nice job. This was an outstanding win and finale to a great season (18-2-2) for the Middle School "A" team. This is Moorestown's first A Division title after winning a B & C the last two years. Congratulations to the entire team for a job well done.
