PHILADELPHIA - Pierre Parenteau scored and posted two assists and Corey Crawford made 37 saves to lead the Norfolk Admirals to a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday night at the Wachovia Spectrum. The loss dampened the first professional goal for Flyers 2006 first-round draft pick Claude Giroux, who scored for the Phantoms along with Mark Cullen and Jared Ross.

Norfolk started the scoring at 8:12 of the first period when Parenteau scored off assists from Martin St. Pierre and Cam Barker. But the Phantoms responded just 16 seconds later on Ross's 11th of the year. He knocked a puck away from an Admirals defender in the Norfolk slot and flicked it past Corey Crawford to make it a 1-1 game.

Norfolk, however, took a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later, at 10:22, during a 5-on-3 power play. Jonas Nordqvist was on the right post and was able to poke a puck that Scott Munroe nearly stopped, but couldn't get enough of his glove on it to keep it from trickling in.

Philadelphia again tied it up at 14:54. Cullen and Darren Reid combined to put it home, with Cullen first centering for Reid from behind the net. Reid's shot was blocked, but it went to Cullen and he swept it home for the 2-2 tie.

But the Admirals grabbed the lead again before the first intermission. Jake Dowell scored with just 2:23 left in the period off assists from Jack Skille and Jordan Hendry, making it 3-2 at the break.

Norfolk pulled ahead with the next two goals. First it was former Phantom Bruno St. Jacques finding the back of the net just 52 seconds into the new frame, and then Skille took advantage of a 2-on-1 to snap a shot high to the short side corner past Munroe's glove at 7:51, making it 5-2.

Philadelphia got one of the goals back at the 12:45 mark when Giroux cleaned up the remnants of a scoring opportunity, sweeping home a rebound into an open side of the net to pull the Phantoms within 5-3.

But Norfolk again answered at 15:37. Carl Corrazini pulled a puck out of the corner after a Phantoms defenseman lost an edge and went down. Corrazini found Craig MacDonald in front, and he beat Munroe to grow the lead back to three goals at 6-3. It ended up being the last goal of the night, as the third period was scoreless.

Munroe took the loss with 16 saves on 22 shots through two periods of action. Martin Houle played the third, stopping all eight shots he faced. Crawford turned away 37 of 40 Phantoms chances in the win.

The Phantoms travel to Bridgeport to visit the Sound Tigers tomorrow before returning home to close out their season against Hershey at 5:05 Sunday afternoon at the Wachovia Spectrum. It's Fan Appreciation Night, when the Phantoms will give out everything - including the kitchen sink - and will also have the annual Shirts Off Our Backs event after the game. Individual tickets, including $8 tickets for children 14 and under anywhere in the building, are on sale now at phantomshockey.com or by calling 800-298-4200.
