Barrage Break Three Game Losing Streak

The Philadelphia Barrage defeated the New Jersey Pride Saturday night in front of 3,105 fans at Kean University. This marks the first win of the 2005 season for the Barrage who lost their first three games. Mike Levin, who was picked up by the Barrage earlier in the week had an excellent first game. He was named Bud Light MVP with a total of 21 saves on 31 shots.

The Barrage jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter. B.J. Prager scored the first goal for the Barrage, followed by a goal from Bobby Horsey, another goal by Prager and a goal by Ryan Boyle. Mike Levin and the Barrage defense held New Jersey to only one goal in the first quarter. The score at the end of the first was Philadelphia 4, New Jersey 1.

New Jersey opened up the second quarter with a goal by Walid Hajj but the Barrage came back with three goals in a row by Horsey, Boyle and Matt Lucas, to end the first half Philadelphia 7, New Jersey 2.

Adam Doneger scored his first 2-point goal of the night to open the third quarter for New Jersey. Doneger and Kyle Harrison scored the next two goals for New Jersey but Boyle broke their three goal run with a goal at 6:53. Each team went goal for goal to round out the third quarter. The score at the end of the third was Philadelphia 9, New Jersey 8.

Horsey and Prager scored goals for Philadelphia putting them up to 11 in the fourth quarter while Hajj and Harrison scored for New Jersey bringing them in close range of tying the game. Scott Urick took a shot on goal for New Jersey with 37 seconds remaining but Mike Levin stopped the ball, securing Philadelphia’s win.

Philadelphia leaders were Prager with four points (3G, 1A), Horsey with three points (3G), Boyle with three points (3G) and Striebel with two points (1G, 1A).

New Jersey leaders were Doneger with four points (3G, 1 2ptG), Harrison with two points (2G) and Hajj with two points (2G).

The Barrage see game action again Saturday, June 25 against Long Island at Mitchel Field at 7:00 p.m. The Barrage return home to Villanova on July 14 against the Rochester Rattlers at 7:30 p.m.
