Barrage Fall To Lizards 18-12

The Philadelphia Barrage faced off against the Long Island Lizards on Saturday, June 25th at Mitchel Field in Uniondale, NY in front of 2,482 fans. Matt Striebel scored the first goal for the Barrage but the Lizards scored the next four goals. Striebel broke the lizards scoring streak with his second goal but Long Island scored two more before the quarter could end. The score at the end of the first was Philadelphia 2, Long Island 6.

Long Island scored the first two goals to open the second quarter. Philadelphia’s Andrew Wasik scored his first goal of the night. Each team went goal for goal on the next four; Blake Miller scored both for Long Island and Doug Shanahan and Michael Springer, assisted by Kyle Sweeney, scored for Philadelphia. Springer scored again for the Barrage off a feed from Jed Prossner. Long Island scored one more time and B.J. Prager scored for Philadelphia, assisted by Ryan Boyle, to end the scoring of the first half. The score was Philadelphia 7, Long Island 10.

Long Island opened the third quarter by scoring three straight goals. The Barrage answered back with three straight goals for themselves by Springer, Prager and Boyle. The Lizards got two more goals in at 14 seconds and 00.1 seconds left in the third. The score was Philadelphia 10, Long Island 15.

Long Island held the Barrage to only one goal in the fourth quarter, which was scored by Prager. Long Island scored three goals putting them up to 18 and ending the game. The final score was Philadelphia 12, Long Island 18.

The Barrage see game action again on Thursday, June 30 against the Boston Cannons at Nickerson Field at 7:30 p.m. The Barrage return home to Villanova on Thursday, July 14 against the Rochester Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available by calling the Barrage ticket office at (610) 355-8999 or by visiting Ticketmaster.com.
