Rutgers-Camden Competes at Knecht Cup Regatta

A cold, rainy, windy day played havoc with the Knecht Cup Regatta over the weekend on the Cooper River, causing Saturday's races to be postponed in the early afternoon and adding the remainder of the competition to Sunday's schedule. The Rutgers University-Camden crew team placed two boats in the finals, but due to the confusing schedule only one boat, the Men's Varsity Four Div. II/III team, was able to compete. The Rutgers-Camden Women's Division III Varsity Four team, along with another boat, missed the finals in the long delay and rearranged schedule. Another boat from Rutgers-Camden, the Men's Club Four, had to be scratched due to the scheduling changes.

The Rutgers University-Camden women’s crew team qualified for the finals and finished fifth of six teams in the Women’s Heavyweight 4+ race as the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Crew Championships May 7 in Occoquan, VA. The Lady Raptors also finished fourth in their heat for the Women’s Freshman/Novice Heavyweight 8+ race, posting a time of 9:17.80. That boat included freshman stroke seat Monica Fleming, freshman 7 seat Laura Williams, junior 6 seat Kristin Szostak, freshman 5 seat Traci Arnold, sophomore 4 seat Cynthia Burt, sophomore 3 seat Stephanie Jones, freshman 2 seat Holly Shelly and junior bow Mary Kate Pasquarello. The coxswain was sophomore Colin Oswald.

Raptor of the Week: Women's Frosh/Novice Eight Crew Team

The Rutgers-Camden Women’s Frosh/Novice Eight crew team made school history April 17 at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River, posting the first victory ever for the first-year varsity program. They won the Division III final in a time of 7:51.3. Members of the team were sophomore coxswain Renee Martin, junior stroke seat Nicole Corl, freshman 7 seat Laura Williams, freshman 6 seat Monica Fleming, freshman 5 seat Traci Arnold, junior 4 seat Kristin Szostak, sophomore 3 seat Stephanie Jones, sophomore 2 seat Cynthia Burt and sophomore bow seat Jen Culligan.

Rutgers-Camden Women’s Crew Team Places Fifth at Murphy Cup Regatta

The Rutgers-Camden women’s crew team opened its spring sprint season competing in the Women’s Frosh/Novice Eight race at the Murphy Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia March 26. The Lady Raptors finished fifth of five boats in their heat, posting a time of 8:07.18.
