The Berlin Twp. Blizzard took to the fields this weekend to begin their 15th season, collectively the Blizzard has played close to 200 games including tournament play, the team is still anchored by long time captains Ciarra Jones and Meaghan Williams. Coach Bob Jones and coach Debbie Vancurren were not sure what to expect from their squad this year, with almost the entire team playing high school soccer there has been little time to practice as a team. But once the girls took the field it was quite obvious that they had not forgotten how to play together!

The Blizzard was led by their number one goal scorer over the last two seasons Michelle "Mush" Foster who scored all 3 Blizzard goals en route to a 3-1 win over a very good Maple Shade team. Jenney Sabin was solid as always in net, and the Blizzard got a real strong game out of outside half Chelsea Gathwaite, new comer Shannon Murphy was very solid on the left outside half and the defense led by Kate Reale at sweeper was like a wall. The Blizzard take the field in two weeks against long time rivals Delran, who happen to be the only team to beat them in the last two seasons, this ought to be a good one!! Congratulations on your win girls, great, great, soccer!
