MAY 22 - 25, 1998

Dear Tournament Participant:

The Voorhees Soccer Association, the Tournament Committee and the VSA volunteers would like to welcome you to our Sixth Annual Memorial Day Classic.   This year we are privileged to host over 260 teams from seven different states along the east coast!   These teams represent some of the finest competitive youth soccer teams in their respective states!

This year we will once again have different divisions set up according to the level of play.   We feel this will greatly improve the competition for all teams in each age group.   We continue to have a large influx of younger teams in the small sided divisions.   We intend to present each player at the U-9 level with a participation medal to help enhance their experience at the tournament.

We are excited to be able to provide a fully staffed referee pool.   This enables us to have a three person referee system for each game.   This also helps us to achieve our goal of giving the players the best opportunity to play the game under the best conditions.

The Tournament Committee expresses their gratitude to Voorhees Township, the Voorhees Board of Education, Eastern Regional High School and Cherokee High School for the outstanding facilities on which we have to play.   Our fields are second to none!   We are forever indebted to Mr. John Maurer and Mr. Frank McAleer in particular for providing us with these facilities.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make this tournament a success, especially all the volunteers who put in countless hours to preset a first class tournament.   A special thanks goes out to all of our sponsors: Xara, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Cooper Health System, PSE&G, WAWA, Burger King and the Soccer Locker.   We would also like to thank VSA Club President Doug McNeil who dragged us kicking and screaming into the computer age with his scheduling wizardry.

Between games please take time to enjoy some of the activities located in Voorhees.   Take advantage of the special opportunities presented in the program book.   Show the local businesses that we appreciate their support of the tournament!

We hope that everyone has a great time and leaves our town with lasting memories of playing and watching great soccer and having fun with family and friends!

Keep Kickin',
