The 2001-02 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Philadelphia KiXX General Manager/Head Coach Omid Namazi and defender Pat Morris each scored two goals against Mexico in the National Futsal Tournament yesterday.

Morris scored the first U.S. goal of the game versus Mexico, then scored his second goal minutes before halftime. "Scoring two goals, while representing the U.S. is an honor I will remember forever," stated Morris. Namazi finished the U.S. attack, scoring their final goal and sealing the U.S. victory, with his second goal of the game. As the clock ticked away, he came within inches of a hat trick when his last shot hit the crossbar. "It was a very exciting weekend. I was just glad to be a part of it, " stated Namazi.

The U.S. National Team split the weekend, losing to Brazil 9-1 on Saturday, August 24, and then defeating Mexico 7-4 on Sunday, August 25. Both games were played at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Futsal tournament was sponsored by Wisconsin Sports Management, the Milwaukee Wave, and U.S. Futsal.

Namazi made his first appearance on the U.S. National Team, while Morris appeared on the Futsal roster for the second time.

Futsal, the international version of indoor soccer, is played on a field slightly larger than a basketball court without boards surrounding the field. The game is fast-paced and requires tremendous individual skill and cohesive teamwork while creating scoring opportunities. The U.S. team, coached by Tozer since 1998, has become one of CONCACAF Region's top teams and features many players from the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).
