The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Philadelphia KiXX Goalkeeper Peter Pappas has been named the MISL Goalkeeper of the Week for the seven-day period ending October 12. Pappas receives the award for the second consecutive week; he was also named the MISL Goalkeeper of the Week for the seven-day period ending October 5.

The 31-year old Toronto, Ontario native stopped 20 of the 23 shots he faced in Baltimore on October 11 to fortify the Philadelphia defense and spoil the Blast’s championship celebration with the 5-3 KiXX victory. He currently sits atop the League’s leaderboard with a 2.50 goals against average and two victories. Dating back to the 2002-03 campaign, Pappas has earned a victory in four consecutive regular season contests.

Pappas has been named to six all-star squads, four of which he was selected to start, and five all-league teams in his eight-year career. Last season, the Philadelphia University graduate received Player-of-the-Week honors three times (seven-day periods ending November 3, February 9 and March 23) and Player-of-the-Month honors for his play in the month of November. Overall in his career, Pappas has received Player-of-the Week honors 13 times as well as six Player-of-the-Month honors.

Pappas and the first-place KiXX conclude a three-game road trip in Dallas on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 against the Western Conference’s Dallas Sidekicks. The contest is a School Day Game with a special 11:45 am ET start time at Reunion Arena. The club then returns home to the Wachovia Spectrum to kick-off their 18-game home schedule against the MISL Champion Baltimore Blast on Saturday, November 1. Game-time is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET. The first 3,000 fans through the gates will receive a Philadelphia KiXX Magnetic Schedule, courtesy of SEPTA.

The Philadelphia KiXX are a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League, a single-entity organization that features a coast-to-coast presence across the United States. The club is entering its eighth season of play in the Wachovia Spectrum located in Philadelphia, PA.
