The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that three members of the Philadelphia KiXX were honored with the League's Player of the Week (POW) accolade for the seven-day period ending January 30. Goalkeeper Peter Pappas was named the MISL's Goalkeeper of the Week, his fourth such honor of 2004-05, while Pat Morris pulled in his League-high fifth Defensive Player of the Week award and player/coach Don D'Ambra earned his first Offensive Player of the Week accolade of the season.

Pappas, a native of Toronto, Ontario receives the honor after saving 37 of the 46 shots (.804 save percentage) in two games versus the St. Louis Steamers this weekend. The Philadelphia University graduate opened the back-to-back set with 15 saves in a 6-5 overtime loss on January 29, marking the 300th game of his illustrious nine-year career. The reigning MISL Goalkeeper of the Year then stopped an impressive 22 of the 25 shots he faced en route to a 7-3 victory on January 30. Pappas, who on January 21 became the 15th player in indoor soccer history to record 4,000 saves, is among the League leaders in nearly every goalkeeping category this season, including first in wins (11) and saves (245), second in minutes played (1,075) and save percentage (.745) and fourth in goals against average (4.69). The seven-time all-star was also honored with the weekly distinction for the seven-day periods ending November 22, December 19, and January 9.

A native of Philadelphia, PA, Morris is enjoying arguably the best season of his six-year indoor career. The three-time all-star opened the doubleheader weekend with a two-point (goal, assist), one-block performance versus St. Louis on January 29, and then added a pair of assists and a season-high six blocks (also tying the League’s season high) versus the Steamers on January 30 in the 200th game of his career. The Philadelphia University graduate currently leads the MISL in blocks with 37 and is tied for fifth on the circuit in points with 27. Morris, who is currently on a KiXX season-high 12-game point streak, also received the Defensive POW honor for the seven-day periods ending October 24, November 7, December 12, and December 19.

D’Ambra pulls in his first weekly honor of the season and just the second Offensive POW for the KiXX in 2004-05; forward John Barry Nusum received the accolade for the seven-day period ending November 7. The 32-year-old player/coach found the back of the net twice on January 29 and then added another tally on January 30. The St. Joseph’s graduate has now scored 16 points on 12 goals and four assists this season.

D’Ambra, Morris, Pappas and the rest of the KiXX return to action next Saturday, February 5 to entertain former player/coach Omid Namazi and the Cleveland Force. Game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is slated for 7:05 pm ET, with the doors opening at 6:00 pm ET.
