The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Philadelphia KiXX defender Pat Morris has been named the League’s Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the seven-day period ending December 12. The honor is the third such accolade for the Philadelphia native and the fifth for KiXX member this season.

Morris, who was also honored as the League’s Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the seven-day periods ending October 24 and November 7, stabilized the club’s backline with a team-high four blocks and three points in the team’s doubleheader weekend. The Philadelphia University graduate recorded three blocks and a goal in the team’s 6-5 loss to the Cleveland Force on December 11, then added a two-assist, one-block performance in the KiXX’ 9-5 victory versus the Chicago Storm on December 12. The 27-year-old defender is currently third on the Philadelphia roster with 11 points (seven goals, four assists) and tied for third in the MISL with 16 blocks in eight games in the 2004-05 campaign.

The product of Northeast Catholic was named to the All-Rookie team in 1999-00 and to an All-League team each of the past three seasons (2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04). Morris finished his collegiate career fourth all-time in school history with 49 goals and 120 points. In addition to this season’s two accolades, Morris has now received the League’s weekly honor six times in his six-year career; he also was named the MISL Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the seven-day periods ending December 28, 2003, January 11, 2004, and February 8, 2004. Morris received player-of-the-month accolades for both January and February in 2004.

Morris and the rest of the KiXX prepare for a back-to-back series this weekend, kicking-off with a trip to the Windy City to battle the Chicago Storm on Friday, December 17. Game-time at the UIC Pavilion is scheduled for 8:35 pm ET and the contest can be heard live via webcast at www.chicagostorm.net. The KiXX then return to the Wachovia Spectrum to entertain the Central-Division leading Milwaukee Wave on Saturday, December 18. The first 2,500 fans, under 14, to enter the gates will receive a Philadelphia KiXX t-shirt, compliments of JAKO USA. The contest is slated for a 7:05 pm ET kick-off, with the doors opening at 6:00 pm ET. For ticket information, fans can call the club’s Executive Office at 1-888-888-KiXX (5499) or log onto the team’s official website, www.kixxonline.com.
