The Vineland Hurricanes won the Under-12 "North American" Division of the South Jersey Soccer League for Fall '98. The Hurricanes posted a hard earned record of 6 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties. The Hurricanes played teams from Upper Twp., Mt. Laurel (2), Cinnaminson, and Highland Soccer Clubs. The top scorers for the season were Billy Redden, Kerry Daplyn, and Saverio Brunetti. Other offensive forwards Bobby Rupp and Chris Downey added to the Hurricane scoring punch. Halfbacks Tom Tobolski, Steve Bond, Mike Amari, and Al Pellegrini contributed goals and/or assists to help the team succeed. The Vineland defense was led by Ryan Gregor, Mike Rigo, Evan Bostrom, Dan Perretti, and Nick Ruskoski. Jermey Chini was the Hurricane netkeeper for the season.

In the Hurricane's last match of the outdoor season, they travelled to Mt. Laurel, New Jersey to play the "Storm". The soggy turf made for slick footing during the match. Vineland goalkeeper Jermey Chini stopped Mt. Laurel's best shot of the first half. Just four minutes into the second half, halfback Steve Bond hit the crossbar with a shot from 15 yards out. Saverio Brunetti's rebound shot went just wide and the match remained at 0-0. The Vineland pressure continued minutes later as right forward Bobby Rupp crossed the ball to the hard charging left forward, Saverio Brunetti. Brunetti's shot was headed into the upper part of the net, when the Mt. Laurel goalie snatched the ball before it crossed the goal line. Hurricane goalie Jermey Chini again came to the rescue. Chini snared a wicked Storm shot with less than seven minutes remaining in the game to preserve the tie. Final score: Hurricanes 0, Storm 0.
