Njuguna, Komu Capture First Place in 20th Annual Bancroft 5K Race

HADDONFIELD, NJ - Nearly 1,000 runners turned out to compete in the 20th Annual Bancroft NeuroHealth Race held here on Saturday. The event also served as the 5K championship race on the Mid-Atlantic Association of USA Track & Field's 2001 Grand Prix Circuit. Proceeds from the event will benefit Bancroft NeuroHealth programs.

David Njuguna of West Chester, Pa., finished first in the men's division with a time of 14:42. Martha Komu, also of West Chester, Pa., captured first place in the women's division with a time of 16:03.

Bancroft also awarded prizes to first, second and third place male and female finishers in 12 different age categories as well as Bancroft staff members, people served and Haddonfield residents.

Founded in 1883, Bancroft NeuroHealth serves more than 1,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries and other neurological impairments annually. Based in Haddonfield, NJ, Bancroft has sites throughout southern New Jersey, including Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties, as well as in Delaware, Maine and Louisiana. Programs include education, rehabilitation, and vocational, residential, evaluation and treatment services.
